United Kingdom: – Not found – stepfather convicted of murder

On Monday this week, a man was found guilty of murdering his stepdaughter, Bernadette Walker, in Cambridge.

It writes several British media, among others BBC.

No one has seen Bernadette alive since July 18, 2020, and police believe she is dead, although the body has not appeared.

The girl, who was 17 when she disappeared, had confided in her mother that she had been sexually abused by her stepfather, but after telling her mother about the abuse, she did not get the reaction she had hoped for.

– A liar

She was not believed.

– I told my mother that he had abused me. She called me a liar.

It appears in a note from the girl’s diary, which has now been used as evidence in one against the stepfather and mother.

According to the diary notes, the mother allegedly threatened to kill her if she contacted the police.

Called him “daddy”

The 17-year-old was just a small child when her stepfather came into her life.

He was the neighbor of the then only three-year-old Bernadette, who lived in the town of Wakefield south of Leeds in the UK with his mother.

After a short time, the neighbor began a relationship with Bernadette’s mother, and after the relationship with Bernadette’s mother had developed rapidly, the girl immediately had a larger family.

She got the surname of her stepfather, and called him “dad”.

Make a concession

In court, the girl’s mother also admitted that she had tried to confuse the police twice by sending messages from Bernadette’s mobile phone, as well as giving false information about the disappearance to the police.

While the stepfather was convicted of the murder itself, the mother has been found guilty of hiding information and trying to cover up for her husband.

The search operation continues

Although it is believed that Walker is dead, there are still many more people who have not given up on finding the girl.

According to The Guardian One of the girl’s brothers leads a Facebook group of around 1,700 people looking for her.

The group hopes that the girl can still be alive, but that she is hiding, and that they can at least find something that can bring them closer to what has happened.
