United Kingdom: Long live King Charles III United Kingdom: Long live King Charles III

Libreville, Saturday May 6, 2023 (Info Gabon) – The new British monarch and his wife, Camilla have just been crowned during a grandiose ceremony organized at Westminster Abbey.

70 years after his mother Elizabeth II, King Charles III was crowned this Saturday during a memorable ceremony organized at Westminster Abbey celebrated by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby. The new British monarch was awarded the royal regalia, namely the Imperial Mantle, the Golden Orb, the Sovereign’s Ring. Seated on the throne of Saint Edward, used for all coronations, the monarch was also crowned with the crown of Saint Edward. A very heavy crown that he will wear only once in his life.

As for Queen Camilla Parker Bowles, she had her hands anointed and received the crown from Queen Mary, consort of George V, great-grandfather of Charles. This crown was created in 1911 and is set with diamonds that belonged to Elizabeth II. Gabon is represented at this event by a large delegation led by the President of the Republic, Ali Bongo Ondimba.
