Last Saturday, the Gibbs family, consisting of mum Clare and her boyfriend Bruce Martin, as well as their two daughters Georgie (9) and Ella (11), went on an excursion to Buckingham Palace in London, Great Britain.
Buckingham Palace is the home of Queen Elizabeth, according to Royal Collection Trustwhich is one of the departments of the British court.
– We sat down to eat, suddenly my daughter Georgie started screaming and the cafe became completely silent, says Clare Gibbs to the news agency SWNS, reproduced by the British newspaper The Independent.
Along for the excursion was the family’s nine-year-old daughter Georgie, who has cerebral palsy and is in a wheelchair.
Got scalded
Mora says that they greeted the queen’s horses, before they sat down in the garden cafe to take a breather on the ground.
Suddenly, the girl got a full cup of hot tea over her, according to SWNS.
Mora tells the local newspaper Worcester News that her daughter’s screams were “terrible”.
– Everything happened so quickly, and the boiling hot tea ran down Georgie’s leg, and into the leg skin that she wears, says Clare Gibbs according to the local newspaper.
She assumes that the wheelchair has somehow bumped into something, causing the cup to tip over.
– Treated like royalty
When the accident first happened, the family says they were “treated like royalty” by the staff at Buckingham Palace.
Guests at the cafe reportedly helped by pouring cold drinks on Georgie’s leg while the family waited for more cold water.
They called an ambulance, and the mother says that the injured girl was helped out of the building.
Got stuck in the car – died
According to the mother, Georgie must have been escorted by officials from the palace all the way to the hospital St. Thomas.
Visible blisters formed on the calf, according to SWNS.
– The hospital says that we should be grateful for all the help we received in connection with the accident. Without help, this could have ended worse, says the mother to the local newspaper.
