In an official position of the company, it is stated that the request initiated by Yettel Bulgaria is unfounded
UNITED GROUP POSITION
We consider Jettel Bulgaria’s request to the Commission for the Protection of Competition to merge the procedure for verifying the acquisition of Bulsatcom by Viva Corporate with the procedure initiated by Slovenia Broadband to be unfounded, groundless and absurd.
Jettel Bulgaria asks the Bulgarian regulator to merge an investigative procedure, in which Viva Corporate is a party, with a procedure regarding notified transactions, to which Slovenia Broadband is a party. These are different types of productions with different actors acting in different capacities. Slovenia Broadband’s notification review procedure concerns the acquisition and leaseback of part of Bulsatcom’s assets.
We believe that the purpose of the request made by Jettel Bulgaria is to frustrate the process in order to delay and complicate the decision-making procedure regarding the notification submitted by Slovenia Broadband. Moreover, with these actions, Jettel Bulgaria only aims to harm United Group’s business in Bulgaria.
It is worth noting that Jettel Bulgaria wants the CPC to violate the laws of Bulgaria in order to protect its own interests. Before United Group set foot in Bulgaria, Jettel Bulgaria was focused on its high profits without investing in the development of its business. Now, all of a sudden, after United Group entered the market and created a competitive environment, Yettel Bulgaria started showing claims to our actions.
We believe that it will be illegal if the CPC allows and satisfies the request of Jettel Bulgaria. If this does happen, we will take advantage of all available legal means to protect our rights and interests, including in court.
