United for blood donation in Jena

New campaign at Jena University Hospital: Support associations with blood donations. Chance of up to 1,000 euros for club funds.

Jena. A special blood donation campaign at the Jena University Hospital (UKJ) at the start of the year: With the “United for Blood Donation” campaign, the Jena University Hospital calls for blood to be donated and the allowance given to an association of your choice.

“Because the corona pandemic has also hit the club landscape in Jena and the surrounding area,” said Dr. Silke Rummler, Director of the Institute for Clinical Transfusion Medicine Jena gGmbH.

“Associations need sponsors in order to be able to implement projects. But in these times many supporters have withdrawn. And this is exactly where we start. Regardless of whether they are an active member, fan or relative – every donor can participate. ”

An additional incentive: every club that is supported by at least seven blood donors automatically takes part in a competition – the main prize is 1,000 euros for the club’s treasury. In addition, the association with the most new donors receives a special price.

Interested clubs register for participation using a form on the IKTJ website. Blood donors can take part in the blood donation marathon until April 30th, thereby qualifying their association for the competition.

Make an appointment in advance

Very important for this: Please make an appointment for the donation in advance by calling 03641 9393939 in order to comply with the currently applicable hygiene measures.

Leading by example, team members from Science City Jena, the handball club Jena 90 eV, the rugby department of the USV Jena and the sports and social club Jena already went today (January 20th).

“As you can read on our team cap, we give our heart and soul to Jena. Literally too, ”says Sergio Ruiz Casanova, Managing Director of HBV Jena 90 Spielbetriebs GmbH. “We are very happy to not only help our own club by participating in this campaign, but also to support people who are sick. Donating blood saves lives and we want to be part of it. “

This is exactly how the players in the rugby division of the UPS see it. “Regardless of the pandemic, many of our activists take it for granted to donate blood regularly,” says Christopher Molzahn.

“We are therefore all the more pleased that the blood donation has now created the opportunity to receive support as an association during the pandemic and to be able to offer sports activities again as best as possible after the pandemic.”

The hockey players at SSC Jena also have a very special relationship with blood donation. “With the slogan” Heart and soul for Jena “we also associate passion for hockey”, says Amy Rossade from SSC Jena. “As a women’s team, we would like to use the money from the expense allowance to finance sweaters so that we can use the uniform team look to draw attention to the donation of blood on and off the field very soon.”

“Especially in these challenging times, it is important to meet your social responsibility. We would therefore be delighted if many would follow our example and support this great and important campaign by our long-term partner, ”says Lars Eberlein, Managing Director of Science City Jena.

At the start of the campaign, members of sports clubs donated blood. “But of course every club in Jena and the surrounding area can be supported, regardless of whether it is musical, cultural or social,” emphasizes Dr. Hooters.

“And even if your own association does not win the main prize, you have already helped it with the expense allowance – and our patients with the donated blood.”

Any adult between the ages of 18 and 68 who is healthy and weighs more than 50 kilograms can donate. The blood donation at the UKJ is open on Mondays and Fridays from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Bachstraße.
