The battery is the most expensive component in an electric motorbike. In fact, the price of the battery can be half the price of the vehicle. That’s why consumers are often haunted by fear if this part has a problem.
Awan Setiawan, Division Head of United E-Motor, said that the price of electric motorbike batteries for the products he sells in Indonesia is around IDR 9 million. The battery is a lithium type and weighs 11-13 kilograms.
“(The price of the battery) is Rp. 9 million. One of the fears consumers have about buying an electric motorbike is that the battery is expensive, if it is damaged, they have to replace it with a new one. Well, our solution is to repair it if it is damaged,” said Awan Setiawan when met in Alam Sutera, South Tangerang .

United E-Motor provides repair options for problematic electric motorbike batteries. So, consumers don’t necessarily have to buy a new unit. However, he claims, so far his electric motorbike battery has never had any complaints from consumers.
“Until now, we are probably the only electric motorbike brand whose batteries don’t have any issues. If there is a case of a drop, will it be replaced or repaired,” he said.
“The only electric motorbike that can repair batteries is us, because we manufacture and have our own battery vendor. Because electric motorbike consumers are still afraid about batteries, they ask how much it costs? Rp. 9 million per lithium battery, they are shocked,” he added.

Furthermore, Awan also explained the costs of repairing problematic electric motorbike batteries. He guarantees that the nominal amount is quite affordable.
“So if the United motorbike battery drops, we check one by one. If it needs to be repaired, the cost per cell is only IDR 100 thousand. If our socket is damaged, we don’t need to replace the whole package. Just the socket because we have it in stock,” said Awan.
For the record, United E-Motor currently sells a number of products in Indonesia, namely United TX3000, TX1800, T1800 and MX1200. They claim that their electric motorbikes will sell 11 thousand units during 2023. That figure has doubled compared to the previous year.
