A flight will connect the Côte d’Azur to New York daily until the beginning of September.
10:10 a.m. is the time at which the first plane of the American company United Airlines from New York landed on the runway of Terminal 1 at Nice airport this Saturday. The Boeing 767-300 was welcomed by the water jets of the firefighters, a way of celebrating this new connection which will be established daily between Nice airport and Newark airport.
“The first flight arriving today starts the daily operations we have planned for this summer,” said Grégoire Dutoit, commercial director in France for United Airlines, at the microphone of BFM Nice Côte d’Azur.
Initially scheduled for 2020, then postponed due to the Covid-19 epidemic, this link “will not only bring Nice closer to New York” but also “connect Nice to more than 85 destinations on the American continent” underlined Grégoire Of the roof.
Indeed, once they arrive in Newark, travelers from Nice will be able to access connections to Orlando, Chicago or even Las Vegas.
Towards a sustainability of this link?
It is currently a seasonal flight, scheduled until September 6, said the commercial director with Nice Matin. Departure is daily from Nice at 12:10 p.m. and arrives at 3:45 p.m. (local time). The return leaves at 10 a.m. from American territory and lands at 7:55 p.m. on the Nice tarmac. But according to Grégoire Dutoit, United Airlines is studying the possibility of continuing the connection throughout the year.
This new line adds to the Nice-New York routes already offered by two other airlines. Delta Airlines connects the Côte d’Azur daily to John F. Kennedy airport in New York, while La Compagnie offers three flights a week to Newark airport.
