“People were running in panic to the planes and I was wondering what was going on, the city was falling into the hands of the Taliban. The only thing possible for me was this plane going to Ukraine. They told me, ‘You have to run, the Taliban are 10 minutes away, everyone was scared.’ . I left my homeland, my home, everything, “said Afghan pilot Mohadese Mirzai.

She is the first female pilot in Afghanistan’s civil aviation. Mirzai is only 23, but she has been through a lot. His biggest dream of being a pilot is coming true, although in Afghanistan it is almost impossible.

“I was told, ‘You’re very small, pilots have to have muscles.'” That saddened me, she added.

He studied in Canada but did not have enough money and returned to Afghanistan to seek support. A private airline offers her a hand. After completing his education in the Philippines, Mohadese returned to his homeland and began working as a co-pilot for a year because there were no impossible things.

“Going back to that time makes me very happy, for me to be able to achieve my passion, it’s a great achievement for me,” Mirzai said.

And when her life is in order, the Taliban take over her hometown of Kabul, she loses everything.

“On August 15, I was preparing for a flight to Istanbul, I was in uniform, I went to the airport, but the streets were not as usual, it was empty,” she said.

He witnesses horrible scenes. “People running are fleeing to the airport, with small children, all fleeing,” Mohadese Mirzai added.

Her plane to Istanbul did not take off, and her only escape was a plane to Ukraine.

“I stood in front of the door of the plane to Ukraine in uniform and they said, ‘Come on, get on the plane,’ then I thought about whether I should go or stay. took off, I was a passenger who left my homeland, my home, everything, ”she recalls.

She left Kiev for Bulgaria because she has a visa, but her visa expires and she now has a temporary status.
