This roof has multiple functions: The new folding roof made up of solar panels at the car Park of the cable car Kronberg in Jakobsbad, AI.
- Two birds with one stone beaten: The new Solar roof at the aerial cable car Kronberg in Jakobsbad, AI produces power and provides at the same time shadow.
- The photovoltaic system can produce enough electricity to power 70 households.
- The cost of the project amounted to about 1.5 million Swiss francs.
On a Parking lot at the luftseilbahn Jakobsbad-Kronberg AI, a new PV has been taken on Monday-folding roof operation. It will produce a power equivalent to the electricity needs of 70 households.
The Solar folding roof is unique in the world and set a strong sign for the energy transition in Eastern Switzerland, it is said in the communication to the project from Monday. The plant is a joint project of the luftseilbahn Jakobsbad-Kronberg AG and the St. Gallo-Appenzell’s kraftwerke AG (SAK).
Here you can see the folding roof in Action:
After a 13-month construction period, the solar could be put a folding roof on Monday in operation. Fully extended, it gives on the Parking lot for 152 cars shadow. The roof consists of 1320 solar panels spread over an area of 4000 square meters. It will produce per year 350’000 kilowatt hours of solar electricity.
