Unique Collaboration: Caroline Shaw and Sō Percussion Live Performance – March 8 at Hansa Platform

Friday, March 8, in the cultural room Hansa platform a percussion quartet will perform Sō Percussion and Pulitzer Prizes and Grammy Laureate singer, violinist and composer Caroline Shaw from USA. For 25 years already Sō Percussion rewrites the rules of chamber music with its innovative programs. Caroline Shaw, who has collaborated with rapper Kanye West, cellist Yoyo Ma, pop star Beyoncé and opera diva Renee Fleming, is also experimenting with ideas. The musician won the prestigious Pulitzer Prize in 2013 the chapel opus Partita for eight voices. Caroline Shaw and Sō Percussion the program is based on their album Let the Soil Play Its Simple Part (2021), inspired by American folk music, medieval chants, the lyrics of James Joyce and ABBA. Together, these artists discover a unique world of sound art.

The recording was made together with Baltic Groove Orchestra, led by conductor Jānis Ivuškāns. At the concert, Aija will be joined not only by this collective, but also by rapper Ansis.
