I think 36-year-old Marianne Vos needs no introduction. She has been part of the women’s peloton for years, and the Visma-Lease a Bike rider is still one of the better riders in the peloton. Vos now has no fewer than 250 (!) professional road victories to her name, and of course the team couldn’t just ignore that. The S5 is Cervélo’s aero top model on which Vos cycles many competitions. Just like the men’s team, this racer is equipped with a Sram Red eTap AXS groupset, spare wheels and Vittoria tires. A gold-colored chain and cassette have been mounted especially for Vos.
But of course it is about the special design, for Vos’ 250 victories. The basis is a gloss black frame, with the brand name Cervélo in large, white letters on the down tube. The front fork is orange, with the rainbow stripes on it, which of course refer to her world championship wins.
References to greatest victories
On the frame we see references to the European Championships, World Championships won, Olympic medals, stages in the Giro Donne and so on. You won’t actually get bored, because there is something to see everywhere. In a number of places we see an orange number, with the match in white letters in front of it. For example, her 32 stage wins in the Giro Donne, 8 cyclocross World Championships and 2 European Championships on the road. The reference to her medals at the Olympic Games is also nicely done!
As far as I am concerned, we can speak of a successful design, and of course fully deserved. And actually it is old news again, because since last Sunday Vos’ victory counter has reached 251 victories, after her win in the Amstel Gold Race. We’re curious to see where it ends, but until then we’ll continue to enjoy every victory.
