A privileged home in the center of Madrid
In the heart of the Chamberí district, in the courtyard of a 20th century mansion, there is an unexpected little three-story house. “When you see it, you feel like you’re in another country; it’s like a little country house in the city center, it’s very surprising”explain the members of the Las 2 Mercedes agency, in charge of this unique renovation.
The interior designers were inspired by the typical terraced houses of Chelsea, London, to renovate this extremely rare property in the Spanish capital. The result is fresh, playful and artistic at the same time. “The objective was to adapt the space to the needs of the owner, they explain, but above all to obtain an aesthetic that is both cosmopolitan, elegant and not too formal. He is a young, single man who travels constantly and needed an oasis in the middle of Madrid, so the place is perfect for him. » The relationship with the owner is not new, since they have already worked together on a country house.
Ocher tones and organic materials
These are the very characteristics of this ” little house “ particular of 130 square meters which dictated its style. “The space itself always tells us a lot: its brightness, its location, the client’s lifestyle…” Thus, the architects opted for a range of warm colors in which the palette of ocher tones abounds. The materials are also directly linked to nature, since they are all organic: wooden flooring, lime stucco on the walls and wool carpet.
“Most of the furniture was designed in the workshop and manufactured by our team of upholsterers, metalworkers and marble workers: the brass tables, the wood and wool sofa, the Italian marble dining room table. Works of art, however, belong to the owner.specifies Las 2 Mercedes.
Three outdoor spaces in the heart of Madrid
The layout, in turn, was resolved by placing the hall, living room and kitchen on the ground floor, where two of the exterior spaces of the house are located. On the first floor there are two bedrooms with bathroom and dressing room. On the third floor, a magnificent terrace dominates the roof. All these outdoor spaces also bear the mark of the Madrid landscaping agency Muñoz y Moreu, which was responsible for the landscaping.
“We wanted the space to be comfortable and have an enveloping and relaxing atmosphere, where we could escape a little from the hustle and bustle of the big city”, indicate the interior designers. They have undoubtedly achieved this goal in this special little house.
