According to the Uniqlo homepage on the 12th, on the 18th, 8 stores including Homeplus Banghak, Mokdong, Gangseo, Seongseo, Asiad, Chilgok, Haeundae, and Donggwangju will be closed. The Lotte Department Store Merchant and Lotte Department Store Gwangju will be closed on the 19th and 25th, respectively.

As a result, Uniqlo will withdraw from Homeplus stores nationwide, and the number of offline stores will decrease to 143.

UNIQLO announced the reason for the withdrawal, saying, “It is part of a business strategy to operate stores more efficiently in consideration of complex factors such as changes in consumption trends as well as the influence of external factors such as the prolonged Corona 19.” In addition, under the current situation, it said that there are no plans to close additional stores after this month.

As of the end of 2019, the number of UNIQLO stores reached 187, but began to decline as the economic recession caused by Corona 19 overlapped with the boycott of’No Japan’ triggered by Japan’s export restrictions to Korea.
