Unions rally in support of demonstrators arrested during pension reform protest

Several unions are calling for a rally in front of the Strasbourg judicial court this Monday, April 17, at 2 p.m., to support the demonstrators arrested during the previous demonstration against the pension reform, Thursday, April 13.

In a joint press release, CGT 67, FO 67, CFTC 67, FSU Alsace, Solidaires Alsace and the Autonomous Federation 67 Bas-Rhin call for a rally on Monday April 17 in front of the Strasbourg court, at 2 p.m. The unions want to support the activists arrested during the previous day of mobilization against the pension reform, Thursday, April 13. They invite to stay the time of the judgment.

More broadly, the organizations denounce a hardening of the attitude of the police:

“Attached as we are to the peaceful expression of protest, we can only denounce the abuses that reflect an authoritarian temptation in the face of this protest. It is not by criminalizing the social movement that responses to the current crisis can be imposed. »

The press release mentions in particular the case of a trade unionist from the CGT Métallurgie, in detention since Thursday – his police custody having been extended until the immediate appearance.
