Berlin – Bundesliga soccer team 1. FC Union Berlin wants to use an urgent application to obtain approval for 18,000 stadium visitors on a 3G basis for the upcoming game against VfL Wolfsburg, the club said.

Union had submitted the application to the Senate Department for Home Affairs and Sport on October 4, but had not received a decision by Monday. Therefore, the club turned to the Berlin administrative court by urgent application. The prerequisite for the 3G status is that the visitors have been vaccinated, recovered or tested negative.

“The court should determine that a rigid capacity restriction of 50 percent in the 3G model applied for on the basis of a detailed hygiene concept for the game against Wolfsburg is not justified,” it said in a club announcement. Union welcomes Wolfsburg on Saturday (3:30 p.m. / Sky).
