Union threatens with new actions at Lidl: “Holidays may be disrupted” | Inland

Earlier in October, staff in many Lidl stores went on strike in protest against the high workload and some branches remained closed. Finally, on October 18, the social conflict came to an end and the management signed an agreement with the trade unions.

However, the problems have not been solved since then, says Jan De Weghe, federal secretary of the socialist employee union BBTK. Staff shortages in particular appear to be a persistent pain point, especially with the busy holidays ahead.

“The most troubled stores have still not received the announced additional workers and the flying team will not be reinforced for the holidays,” the union said in a press release. If the Lidl management does not meet with staff reinforcement on December 15, “the holidays threaten to be disrupted at Lidl”, according to the BBTK.

The union secretary is unable to say which branches would possibly stop working. He mainly expects a response from departments that have been hit hardest by staff loss.
