Berlin: With its planned supplementary budget for the current year, the traffic light coalition has aroused sharp criticism in the Bundestag. In the debate, the Union accused Finance Minister Lindner of breaching the constitution and undermining the debt brake. In a miraculous transformation, corona loans would become climate loans, criticized Union budget expert Haase from the CDU. Lindner defended his plans. Due to the crisis, many investments have recently been impossible, which now urgently need to be made up. The finance minister wants to reallocate 60 billion euros for investments in climate protection and digitization, which were approved as loans due to the Corona crisis in 2021, but were not taken out. The Bundestag will only vote on the supplementary budget at the beginning of next year.
