The agricultural organization Unión de Uniones has requested that all farms that have been forced to buy fertilizer to maintain productivity have access to aid for fertilization.
Unión de Uniones has demanded that no professional farmer be discriminated against with said aid, after the average price of fertilizers has increased by 80% between September 2021 and September 2022.
These products represent 8% of the factors of production in the agricultural sector, recalled the organization, which denounced in a note that the decree of measures to deal with the economic impact of the war in Ukraine on agriculture leaves out aid to producers who do not receive direct payments from the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).
This aid for the purchase of fertilizers is granted per hectare of cultivation, up to a maximum of 300 hectares, and amounts to 22 euros per hectare of dry land and 55 euros for irrigated land.
That amount seeks to offset the rise in the price of fertilizers, which compromises the viability of many agricultural companies, according to Unión de Uniones.
The organization has indicated that it will ask the parliamentary groups to process the text of the decree as a bill to be able to modify it and include among the beneficiaries professionals who historically have not received the PAC, such as fruit and vegetable farmers and some vineyard areas. .
