Union of the left: the issues in the constituencies in Eure-et-Loir

Beyond the program, the agreement covers a hundred constituencies, dedicated to candidates from the environmental pole. The first constituency of Eure-et-Loir (Chartres) is included in the agreement between the two movements. A common candidacy will therefore be proposed in this sector for the legislative elections.

According to our information, it is Quentin Guillemain, opposition municipal councilor (Chartres ecology group) in Chartres, who will be a candidate. Quentin Guillemain is also spokesperson and deputy coordinator of the Génération Écologie party.

Regarding the Socialist Party, following the agreement with LFI, seventy constituencies in France would be reserved for it. But none in Eure-et-Loir, assured, Wednesday May 4, a little before 9 p.m., Stéphane Cordier. The first federal secretary of the PS and member of the national council prefers to see the glass half full:

“It is certain that our local campaign will be limited, our members will perhaps invest little. But we got more than we scored in the presidential election (Editor’s note: Anne Hidalgo collected 1.75% of the votes cast), if we stick to proportional representation. We should have had 23 to 30 constituencies, we have twice as many. »

Stephane Cordier (First Federal Secretary of the PS and member of the National Council)

” Responsible “

According to Stéphane Cordier, if we stick to the scores achieved by LFI in the presidential election, “the second constituency (Dreux) could logically go to them. Indeed, on Sunday April 10, during the first round, Jean-Luc Mélenchon (LFI) collected 45.27% of the votes cast in Dreux, far ahead of Emmanuel Macron (19.89%) and Marine Le Pen (17.23 %). In the constituency, with 24.16% of the vote, he came in behind Marine Le Pen (28.27%) and ahead of Emmanuel Macron (23.96%).

Similarly, Stéphane Cordier announces that LFI will also be the flag bearer of this union in the third constituency, as in the fourth. In the latter, the left seems moribund. Dominique Garcia, a well-known figure in the CP locally, could have claimed the candidacy. But, no constituency of Eure-et-Loir is devolved to the Communist Party. Gisèle Quérité, departmental secretary of the PCF, does not hide her “disappointment. But, we are responsible communists”.

“To serve people”

No outcry against the agreement or dissident candidate. “The main thing is to offer people the possibility of having a real counter-power in the Assembly to protect them from the choices of Emmanuel Macron. We don’t do politics to have fun, but to serve people.

The eurelian communist militants will therefore campaign for the legislative elections in the logic of the union. “But that doesn’t mean we lose our identity. We will continue to highlight the axes of our Happy Days program”.
