Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has thanked Rahul Gandhi for giving the opportunity to take the truth and message of Veer Savarkar to every household. Gadkari made these comments while addressing a gathering in Nagpur in support of the Veer Savarkar Gaurav Yatra. Gadkari asked Rahul Gandhi to continue to make comments about Savarkar so that the truth can reach every household. The Congress and BJP have been embroiled in a row about the contributions of Veer Savarkar. Several BJP leaders, especially from Maharashtra, have criticised Gandhi over his recent comments on Savarkar. Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, an ally of Congress in the Maha Vikas Aghadi, also criticised Rahul Gandhi over his comments. Congress agreed to tone down its attack on Savarkar following Sharad Pawar’s intervention. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis spoke at the Nagpur gathering and said Rahul Gandhi cannot be Savarkar nor Gandhi.
