Union Leader Calls for Ban on Corridos Tumbados in Children’s Festivities

After the corridos lying down, in particular those of Natanael Cano and Peso Pluma, sounded in the celebration of Children’s Day, Section 20 union leader of the National Union of Education Workers (SNTE) from Nayarit, Guillermina GarcÍa Rodríguez, launched a call not to use this type of music in children’s festivities.

In an interview with the General Secretarywas interviewed by the different media in the state capital, where she questioned whether the lying down corridos were adequate for the comprehensive development of children.

There is a lot of music according to the times, for emotional development, for the desire to get ahead; positive music, because there are topics that can influence the development of children, ”he said in an interview

So no corridos?, he was asked

No, of course not,” the union replied.

Given the behavior of infants (listening to this type of music), which according to the union, threatens their education and that they are supported by teachers, García Rodríguez, notified that pertinent actions will be taken and that he will carry out training for teaching activities.

We would have to start giving them (teachers) guidance on what we should be, as an example, to be able to influence positive situations, we have to make a selection, continue training, orienting our classmates, above all, to prevent them from continuing to give these examples”, concluded Guillermina García

The corridos tumbado is a subgenre of regional Mexican and urban music, which has become very popular and is having a great boom in this decade, especially among the Mexican public and Mexican-Americans.
