Union Education Mobilizes for Vocational Education Reform in the Lot Region

Action this Tuesday.

The inter-union education of the Lot (composed of the FSU 46, Sud Education 46, the CGT Educ’Action 46, the Snudi FO 46, the SGEN CFDT 46 and the UNSA education 46) is mobilizing against the reform of vocational education and calls on “staff to mobilize through strikes and demonstrations on June 6″. “Basing the training map on local labor needs means reducing training opportunities for young people in a territory and confining them to paths that will not necessarily correspond to their wishes. To bring the subject back to the situation of the Lot, we are currently fighting to have a diversified training offer that allows young people to find something to meet their wishes. We draw up the observation that many families prohibit certain training courses for reasons of remoteness; if we reduce the training offer to local needs, what will remain in the Lot? aeronautics, agri-food, personal service and a little craftsmanship? We also take the risk of breaking the possibilities of emancipating ourselves from the family pattern. Changing the training cards in a very short time is a major source of concern for all teachers who will see their training removed: a real social plan. In response to this concern, the ministry “generously” offers that teachers who will lose their jobs go to nursery and elementary schools! So, no problem going from bodywork teacher to kindergarten teacher for example! What contempt! Less general education means less general culture and the risk of creating a docile generation. Finally, the payment of a bonus to students risks being a factor of aspiration for families with reduced economic means who will see it as a means of improving their daily lives without necessarily taking into account the interests of their children” explained the union representatives.
