Union Berlin will play in the Champions League for the first time next season. Christopher Trimmel thinks the club could use a DFB star there.
Captain Christopher Trimmel is still hoping for a move from national player Robin Gosens to Union Berlin. “I would be happy if a player with a name like that came to us. It speaks for the development of the club that such a player is associated with the club at all,” said the 36-year-old in a Sky interview .
Most recently, there was speculation that the 29-year-old Gosens would be committed by the Bundesliga soccer club. For Trimmel, the Inter Milan left rail player would be a real asset.
“He is a player of international stature. I know his games and his style of play – an excellent footballer. He would definitely strengthen us, just with his experience,” said Trimmel.
Trimmel wants a duel with compatriot Alaba
Union Berlin surprisingly qualified for the Champions League by finishing fourth last season. In the premier class, Trimmel would like to meet his Austrian compatriot David Alaba.
“I want to experience something new. It would be cool to see new stadiums. Real Madrid with David Alaba, a friend of mine, that would be nice,” said Trimmel. The group draw will take place in Monaco on August 31.
