Union Berlin is equal to Bayern before the latter’s clash with Frankfurt

Berlin (AFP) – Union Berlin was equal on points with leaders Bayern Munich, after it continued its strong performances by defeating Hertha Berlin 2-0 in the capital’s derby on Saturday, before the cautious Bavarian match with its guest Eintracht Frankfurt later, in the 18th stage of the German Football League.

Onion took the lead at the end of the first half, with a header from Dutchman Danielho Duhiki, after a free kick was taken by Austrian Christopher Tremmel (44).

The capital team doubled its lead with a goal by Paul Seguin (67), to achieve its third consecutive victory in the league.

Onion raised his score to 36 points, equally with Bayern, who later receives Frankfurt, fifth (31 points), to regain the runner-up from Leipzig after the latter’s victory over Stuttgart on Friday.

This is Onion’s fifth consecutive win over its rivals in the derby.

Freiburg finally achieved its first victory after the resumption of the league and after a defeat and a draw, by defeating its guest Augsburg 3-1.

The Austrian winner Michael Gregoretskh (13), Lucas Holler (30) and Austrian Philip Lenhart (85) scored, while Marjim Berisha scored the only goal for the guests (29 from a penalty kick).

Freiburg raised its tally to 34 points in fourth place.

Niklas Volkrug rose to the top of the league’s top scorer standings (13), overtaking Frenchman Christopher Nkunku of Leipzig, by scoring a brace in Werder Bremen’s 2-1 victory over his guest Wolfsburg, who was scored by American Kevin Paredes.

Borussia Monchengladbach won 4-1 at Hoffenheim.

Austrian Karim Onisiwe scored a hat-trick to lead Mainz to a 5-2 home win over Bochum.
