On Friday, Union’s dress rehearsal against San Sebastián will take place (7 p.m.). The striker returns to Köpenick seven months after his winter move to Champions League participant San Sebastian (contract until 2026).
Becker plays an important role for the Spanish team, and was almost always in the starting eleven in the final phase of the season. He scored two goals in 16 appearances. The highlight was his appearance in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 against Paris (1:2).
Union has enormous defensive problems. And Becker knows the strengths and weaknesses of the iron defenders. The danger: If Becker and his teammates give Union a good beating in the last test, new coach Svensson will go into the season with a heavy burden. The weakness of the defense in particular, with 58 goals conceded, almost cost the Köpenickers their place in the league.
