The former international player (20 appearances) writes: “I assumed that I would be in the starting eleven and play against St. Pauli.”
The decision to leave Union has deeply moved Gosens: “I often find myself feeling completely empty emotionally.”
At the same time, he writes: “I am incredibly happy and pleased about this transfer, but at the same time sad because I didn’t even get a chance to say goodbye to my club properly and everything happened so quickly.”

Leaving the Irons was primarily for personal reasons. Gosen’s family never felt completely at home in the capital. The longing for their adopted Italian home was too great.
Gosens explains: “In life, I don’t just make decisions that are perhaps best for myself.”
