Uninterrupted development of Dunakeszi – Danube Bend Region

August ended with the opening of the Dunakeszi Student Quarter, and October began with the dedication of a new swimming pool. In the columns of the town magazine Dunakeszi Polgár, we will report separately on the opening of the water facility Dömötör Zoltán Dunakeszi Sportusozoda, but we would like to know directly from you what this development means for Dunakeszi? I asked the mayor of the town.

“Thank you for the question.” Those who know me better, but perhaps also the people of Dunakesz, already know that the realization of improvements based on real needs – so to speak – is the business of my heart. A very important goal in the life of a city and its inhabitants is to be able to reach everything locally, with which they can save time and spend with their family. We take care of all areas, from education to the workplace to sports and leisure, so the achievement of this goal is essential in advance before we start any development. We could say that we already have a swimming pool, so why do we need another one. According to the VSD, this swimming pool belongs to the society, but I think the people also needed it as a snack. Opened in 2017, the Attila Gérecz swimming pool is actually more than a swimming pool due to the size of the pool, but of course it is also great for swimming training and public swimming. However, the demand was greater than the supply and the possibilities with a swimming pool. That’s why we designed the sports swimming pool in the Student Quarter concept. The 25 x 33 meter pool and the two stands, each capable of accommodating 92 people, are suitable for organizing international water polo matches as well as water polo training, as well as access to swimming and swimming lessons. The teaching pool and the wellness area increase further opportunities for residents.

Have you tried it?

– I haven’t had the chance yet, but since I enjoy sports and swimming regularly, I will try it soon.

Living with fun… We went to the Lidl store the other day, and the progress on building the new bike path is amazing. In the meantime, the question arises whether at least the part of the main road affected by the construction could be renewed?

– There has been a long-standing demand from the people of Dunakes that the Fő úti bike lane, which ends at the Fő út-Szent István út intersection, be connected to the EuroVelo6 bike path, so that bike traffic can on Fő út to be safe and continuous. This work is going on now, but we will take it later, through the business park, all the way to the Auchan department store, to help with the transport of people going to work or shopping there. This year it will be ready up to Lidl, and next year we will continue along Pallag utca, on the service road. But in the meantime, discussions are also going on about the arrangement of the road, so that we can use the routes without movement as soon as possible. We are working with the Member of Parliament Bence Tuzson to widen the two roundabouts here and the lane that goes out of town.

With its beautiful parks and well-kept public spaces, Dunakeszi shows a different face in each season. Wintering of the flower beds outside, that is, replanting them with frost tolerant plants, is currently underway. On Facebook, the people of Dunakesz are constantly praising the well-thought-out green program…

– In fact, under the professional guidance of Márton Nyíri, deputy mayor who deals with green issues, and Eszter Tóth, head gardener, we are consciously planning parks and doing sensitive water management. We also made a contract with the new swimming pool to use part of the pool water, which they have to drain and change every day according to hygiene regulations. That’s why we started our rainwater collection program last year, to help the people so they don’t have to use potable water for irrigation. With this, we can save a lot and even take care of water, which is a treasure.
