Nine of the twelve costumes in the TV3 show “Voice in Mask” have been created by the well-known and award-winning Estonian fashion designer Liisi Esmaa, who has presented more than 17 costume collections, as well as been a costume designer in 12 television, theater and film projects. Nominated for the most notable fashion award “Golden Needle” in Estonia three times, as well as won the audience sympathy award. In turn, three images – Lutausis, Rīga and Zvirbulis – have been created in Latvia in collaboration with the Latvian National Theater and the main costume designer of the show “Voice in Mask” Anci Beinarovičs, who was also a costume artist in the home digger “Criminal Excellence Foundation”.

“It took one month to design the costumes from the idea to the end. In the course of the work, we also collaborated with the participants themselves to bring the artist’s personality to life in the mask and to create a story that is hidden under the mask; Every nuance and detail is thought out – color, clothes, accessories, etc. Of course, it is also important to take out this costume, which is not an easy task, and the visibility in the masks is very limited.

For example, “Lelle” weighs 17 kg and has a circumference of 3.5 meters, “Lutausis” is almost 2.5 meters in height.

This had to be taken into account when building the stage. Creating three new masks, we put the Latvian code in the mask “Riga”, inspired by Art Nouveau; in the mask “Lutausis”, the image of a Latvian fairy tale, and “Sparrow”, which have been given new power and chic, which lies behind the seemingly gray essence of a Latvian, “says Ance Beinaroviča, the main costume artist of the show” Voice in the Mask “.
