Unilever picks up Dove Dry Shampoo from TRESemme in the USA

Domestic multinational company English, Unileverdrew a series of Dove to TRESemme spray dry shampoo products due to the potential presence of benzene, a chemical that causes cancer.

To collect CNN.comOn Tuesday (25/10), products suspected of being contaminated with the substance were manufactured before October 2021 and distributed to retailers nationwide.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cites several products such as Dove Dry Shampoo Volume and Fullness, Dove Dry Shampoo Fresh Coconut, Nexxus Dry Shampoo Refreshing Mist, and Suave Professionals Dry Shampoo Refresh and Revive.

Exposure to benzene can occur by inhalation, by mouth and through the skin and can cause cancers including leukemia and blood cancer.

The FDA also says consumers should stop using the affected aerosol dry shampoos and visit UnileverRecall.com for instructions on how to get reimbursed for eligible products.

Earlier last year, Procter & Gamble (PG) recalled more than 30 aerosol spray hair care products, including many dry shampoos and dry conditioners, warning they may contain benzene.

P&G has also issued a similar recall for more than a dozen Old Spice and Secret deodorants and aerosol sprays, warning that the products may also contain benzene.
