Unilever we will make big changes in doing business in Indonesia as a result of the activity boycott side Israel which also focus on their products.
Unilever CEO Hein Schumacher admitted there were long-term problems in his business unit in Indonesia. It was recorded that Unilever Indonesia suffered a decline in revenue of 18 percent in the third quarter of 2024.
“Unilever made important interventions in Indonesia in the third and fourth quarters that will not produce results in the following quarter,” he said, quoted by Reuters, on Thursday (24/10).

Meanwhile, Unilever Chief Financial Officer Fernando Fernandez said fourth-quarter sales growth in Southeast Asia had been hampered by consumers in Indonesia boycotting the brand’s products in response to the geopolitical situation in the Middle East.
Fernandez said the company would try to make its brand “more contemporary” with the “great social changes” taking place. He hopes to see improvements in the next six months.
He said that a review of the distribution system was underway to stabilize prices and that the group’s efforts had yielded results.
“We have recovered some of the share losses we suffered as a result of customer reaction related to the geopolitical situation in the Middle East, we have recovered about a quarter of the share losses on back,” he said.
Unilever is one of the easy targets for a boycott of products that are pro-Israel in the midst of the Zionist attack on Palestine. This global brand is one of the targets in a series of Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movements that are emerging around the world.
The reason Unilever was targeted was when one of their companies called Ben & Jerry’s decided to stop selling ice cream in the West Bank, Palestine, due to the Israeli occupation in 2021. To unfortunately, Unilever executives opposed Ben & Jerry’s intentions to respect Palestine.
At that time, Unilever CEO Alan Jope even said that Ben & Jerry’s was exploring new cooperation opportunities with Israel. Jope’s words also sparked a debate.
