The UAE will start implementing the unified charging service fee for charging electric vehicles starting next September 6, according to a decision issued by the Council of Ministers with No. 81 of 2024.
The decision, which was published in the Official Gazette on July 8, stated that the federal, local and private entities involved in providing electric vehicle charging services in the Emirates must collect a minimum fee of 1.2 dirhams per kilowatt-hour for fast charging, plus value-added tax, with a minimum of 0.7 dirhams for slow charging plus VAT per kilowatt-hour.
The decision states that it will begin to be implemented 60 days after the date of publication in the Official Journal, meaning that it will be effective on September 6.
