The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the holding of an “extraordinary joint Arab-Islamic summit” today, Saturday, instead of the “extraordinary Arab” and “exceptional Islamic” summits, after they were scheduled to be held in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, on the same day.
A statement published by the official page of the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs on its page on the “X” network explained that it was decided to merge the two summits and hold a unified summit today, Saturday, in response to the exceptional circumstances taking place in Gaza, and after the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s consultation with the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
The Saudi Foreign Ministry statement explained that this comes as the leaders of all countries sense the importance of uniting efforts and coming up with a unified collective position that expresses the common Arab and Islamic will regarding the dangerous and unprecedented developments witnessed in Gaza and the Palestinian territories that require Arab and Islamic unity to confront them and contain their repercussions.
