The listed Unicredit Group wants to merge Unicredit Bank Slovenia with Unicredit Bank Austria. In the course of the merger, the Slovenian entity is to become a branch of Wiener Bank Austria. As announced in a broadcast, the group has started examining a merger.
An evaluation plan is to be submitted to the committees and supervisory authorities for approval in the third quarter of 2023. In the short term, all business areas are to remain in their current form, it is said.
The goals of the merger are “a new and simpler organizational model”, improvements to current business activities, a strengthening of sales and the optimization of products and services and processes. They want to make better use of the potential in Slovenia, as the country is important for growth in Central Europe. According to the broadcast, it is a step in the “Unicredit Unlocked” strategy.
