1′ reading

The tender for the redevelopment of the former Scalo Farini in Milan has a winner. The winner of the area put on the market by Fs Sistemi Urbani was the consortium formed by the Americans from Hines together with Unicredit which defeated with its offer the competing consortium originally formed by Coima and Generali real estate and which also saw the recent entry of the Emirates of Emaar properties, the company that owns the Burj Khalifa skyscraper in Dubai, the tallest skyscraper in the world with its 829.80 meters of height.

The novelty of the tender, which saw the deadline for the delivery of binding offers today at 12, is that the bank’s citadel will arrive at the former Scalo.

The seven former Milan railway stations that have been decommissioned by Ferrovie are spread over one million square metres. The Scalo Farini, of approximately 45 hectares in a central position near the Porta Garibaldi and Porta Nuova stations, is in terms of location, accessibility and size, the main one among the seven former airports included in the redevelopment process which is the subject of the signed Program Agreement in 2017 by the Municipality of Milan, the Lombardy Region and the FS Italiane Group.
According to the tender launched at the time, the area must include at least 50% of public greenery and of the 362,947 m2 of gross floor area for sale in Farini, at least 30% will be reserved for non-residential functions. The competition for the master plan at the end of 2018 closed with the victory of the “Agenti Climatici” project by the OMA and Laboratorio Permanente team.
