Today, Thursday, the United Nations Children’s Fund, “UNICEF”, warned of the dangerous repercussions of the new Corona epidemic on the mental health of children.
–
This was stated in a report issued by International OrganizationAs the first anniversary of the epidemic approaches.
The report said that at least one out of every seven children, or 332 million worldwide, have lived under quarantine policies imposed and stayed at home for at least nine months from the start Corona pandemic.
The report quoted UNICEF Executive Director Henrietta Fore as saying: “With the closures and restrictions imposed on movement associated with the epidemic, a long and heavy year has passed for us, especially for children.”
She added: “Many children feel fear, loneliness and anxiety, and we must get out of this epidemic with a better approach to the mental health of children and adolescents, and this begins with giving this matter the attention it deserves.”
As the epidemic enters its second year, its impact on the mental health and psychosocial well-being of children and youth is taking a heavy toll, according to the report.
The report stated that a large number of children who suffer violence, neglect or abuse at home, are stranded with bad individuals and without the support of educational frameworks, families and communities.
