Unfortunately: Netflix stops with a popular series again

This time Derry Girls has to believe it, a show that Netflix broadcasts internationally.

These are great times for television. But the way content is published has changed a lot, especially under the influence of streaming services.

While many channels are still running 22-episode seasons, shorter seasons have become very common these days. And that unfortunately sometimes leads to shorter series than you might want. For example, the popular sitcom Derry Girls is already coming to an end.

Set in 1990s Ireland, the series ends with its third season. Creator Lisa McGee said in a statement.

“It was always meant to end after three seasons. Derry Girls is a coming-of-age story that follows five ridiculous teenagers as they slowly, very slowly, mature in a place they call home and in which we see Northern Ireland entering a hopeful time.”

According to McGee ., the series is “a love letter to the place I come from and the people who shaped me. It was an honor to write it and I will forever be proud of what we have achieved.”
