Unfinished Fourth-Lane Bridge Over Ganges River Collapses in Bihar, India

In Bihar, India, an unfinished four-lane road bridge over the Ganges River Aguwani-Sultanganj collapsed, the height of which was more than 30 meters.

The cost of building the bridge was originally estimated at more than $200 million. This bridge, more than three kilometers long, should be the sixth on the river. This time, one part of the structure collapsed, then a chain reaction followed, the supports buckled along the entire length, as a result, the entire bridge folded into a river. Eyewitnesses have posted videos from the scene on social media.

There were no reports of casualties or deaths.

It should be noted that this bridge collapsed for the second time in the last year, the first incident occurred in April 2022. The investigation showed that the reason was the use of low-quality building materials.
