At 34, she is the mother of 12 children, her first pregnancy at 15. Something about her, in the life of the young mother with a large family, has gone differently from the plans made for her by her parents. Born into a “strict Christian family,” she was barred from dating alone—and especially with her boys—until she was 16. But fate wanted her to get married the day after her 16th birthday, and shortly thereafter to give birth to the first of a dozen of her children.

Britni Church, a 34-year-old mom from Arkansas, told her story in a series of TikTok videos shared on the @ourlargefamilylife account, attracting great interest from users. The woman explained how her life took an unexpected turn starting in 2002, when a boy who was 17 at the time took her by the hand for the first time on the school bus, ending up first as her husband, then the father of five of the 12 children, finally an ex.
The two remained married for six and a half years, which Britni described as marred by drug use and abuse. The young woman initially tried to make the marriage work, fearing for what her and her children’s lives would be like as an 18-year-old single mom of (at the time) three children. “I wanted the children to have a normal life,” she explained in a video. It was only after giving birth to her fifth child that Britni decided to separate from her husband in 2010. After her divorce, she became unexpectedly pregnant with her sixth child, before meeting her current husband, Chris, in 2014.
The couple had six children together, including triplets, and by 32, she was already a mom to 12. “We got married and had our first child within the first year of meeting,” she recalled in a clip. But she assured followers that she is “100% sure she’s done” having kids.
Naturally, her 1.8 million followers went wild in the comments, wondering why she never took birth control or if she was forced into marriage so young. As regards the first question, you explained that the ex-husband would not have been in favor of hormonal contraceptives (a circumstance that other users have also attributed to relationships characterized by abuse). But she vows not to regret any of her beloved children—Crizman, Jordan, Caleb, Jace, Cadence, Jesalyn, Silas, Christopher Jr., Oliver, Asher, Abel, and Rowyn (born 2021).
