One of the most long-awaited rock events in Bulgaria for 2024, Hills of Rock continues to add new names to its program. Joining the already announced Bring Me The Horizon, KoЯn, Spiritbox and Loathe on the main stage are: PAIN, Skindred, Imminence, Baroness, Ghøstkid and Me And My Devil. And this summer in Plovdiv, current names among the best of the international and Bulgarian music scene await us. Hills of Rock takes place at the Rowing Base from 25 to 27 July 2024.
3 new bands join Hills of Rock 2024
Without a doubt, PAIN are the unexpected surprise part of the program on July 27th, Day 3 of Hills of Rock. Much more than an industrial and death metal icon, the Swedish performer and producer, frontman of the cult band Hypocrisy, one of the undisputed leaders of the Scandinavian metal scene, Peter Tägtgren or simply – Pesho, is a name known and loved by hundreds of Bulgarian fans of heavy sound. In May, PAIN will release “I Am” – a new album after an eight-year hiatus, which makes their inclusion in the festival even more exciting.
Important news for rockers! Will there be a Judas Priest concert?
Joining the already announced KoYan, Spiritbox and Loathe for the first day of the festival on the Hills of Rock main stage on July 25th are Skindred. The Welsh band have been around since 1998, but it was their latest album from 2023 that reached the top of the rock charts. “Smile” was released last year, and with it Skindred went on a long tour, which, in addition to a big headline concert at Wembley Arena today, also includes the festival date in our country. Their idiosyncratic mix of heavy metal, punk rock, reggae, raga and dubstep will be heard on the Hills of Rock stage.
Bulgarian supergroup Me And My Devil open the main stage on July 25. Psychedelic and classic guitar riffs that lovingly meet pop pianos and industrial sound. Their music is powerful, exciting and bold. The sexy lyrics and captivating videos add to their devilish charm and magnetism.
On the second festival day, July 26, on the Main Stage, in addition to the sensational Bring Me The Horizon, Imminence, Baroness and Ghøstkid will also perform. Imminence comes from Sweden, their roots are in melodic death metal and metalcore, but – in combination with viola. The band consists of Eddie Berg, Harald Barrett & Alex Arnoldsson, Peter Hanström and Christian Höijer and have already been on stage at the festival once in 2017. The friendly feelings between the musicians and the audience who wanted to see them again helped Imminence become part of program in 2024 as well.
Baroness’ sophisticated atmospheric metal, in addition to getting the pulse of the audience racing, also earned them a Grammy nomination in 2017. The distinctive bold audio and visual experiments of the American band are largely thanks to their frontman John Baizley – vocalist, guitarist, artist and art director of Baroness. With Ghøstkid we dive deep into the darkness, but despite the surface aggression – their melodies retain the emotionality and sense of music. Ghøstkid, the new name of Sebastian “Sushi” Biesler (ex Eskimo Callboy), together with a group of friends and like-minded people Steve Joakim, Jan Marco Heinz, Chris Kisseler and Stanislaw Czywil take the stage on July 26th.
On July 25, 26 and 27, in addition to the world artists on the main stage, there will be two more partner stages at the Rowing Base in Plovdiv. On Tumno and Stroezha this year they have selected some of the most interesting and favorite artists from the Bulgarian music scene and curious international inclusions. Babyface Clan, TDK, Bile/Grigovor/Gena, ALI, No More Many More, Amoral, OH, Nocktern, Gigashadow take to the Stage of Construction. There will also be three curious reunions – Orange, Kokosha Glava and Panican Whyasker are coming together especially for the festival in Plovdiv. The fastest growing Slovenian band – Joker Out is the international entry of the Sofia club festival scene. They are selling out concerts all over Eastern Europe and are being tipped as the next big indie band globally. On the partner stage, Na Tamno, the imported names come with Spanish temperament and international party language – La Ganga Cale and NOHA. On the Bulgarian side, Kerana and the Cosmonauts, Tsar Plah, SEVI, Fyeld, Coolden, Sleeping Places, Toy Letters, The Fourtones have been confirmed so far.
Three-day and one-day tickets for the festival are available online at www.ticketstation.bg and in Na Tamno stores.
Hills of Rock is organized by “Fest Team” OOD, is part of the “Heritage 2023” program of the “Plovdiv 2019” Foundation and is implemented with the support of the Municipality of Plovdiv.
