First-time government jobless claims fell at 194,000 for the week ended February 11th
The number of Americans filing new applications for unemployment benefits fell unexpectedly last week, giving more indications of the economy’s resilience despite tightening monetary policy.
The US Labor Department said today, Thursday, that first-time government jobless claims fell 1,000 to a seasonally adjusted pace of 194,000 for the week ending February 11.
Economists polled by Reuters had expected 200,000 claims that week.
