Unexpected Casting Choices for Upcoming Soviet Film Remake

The choice of actor was unexpected.

In recent years, remakes or continuations of Soviet film hits have been increasingly being released. The next victim of Russian filmmakers was the legendary comedy “Ivan Vasilyevich Changes His Profession.” The team, known for the parody film “Self-Irony of Fate,” began filming a film called “Ivan Vasilyevich Changes Everything.”

The directors of the film are Roman Kim and Mikhail Semi. The project is positioned as a comedy medley. The role of Ivan the Terrible will be played by Timur Batrutdinov. Photos of the artist in makeup have already appeared on the Internet: the comedian in the frame wears the same sharp beard as Yuri Yakovlev in the original movie.

The choice of actor for the role of Shurik was even more unexpected.

He will be played by Demis Karibidis. The dark-eyed Greek resembles Alexander Demyanenko except for his glasses and plaid shirt. Also, many film and music stars will appear in the film: Mikhail Galustyan, Pavel Derevyanko, Philip Kirkorov and even Olga Buzova.
