Transfer business with a difference.
The Danish magazine “Tipsbladet” reports that Champions League round of 16 teams FC Copenhagen and the traditional Norwegian club Valerenga Oslo were offered a mention in the tweets of transfer guru Fabrizio Romano (31) – for a fee, of course.

Accordingly, the magazine has documents that show reports from February that the clubs were offered PR by the company Memmo. The goal: international publicity, guaranteed by Romano’s tweets. The X-Star (20 million followers) has been working with Memmo for a long time.
Copenhagen and Valerenga have confirmed this to Tipsbladet in writing. According to “Idrettspolitikk.no”, the Norwegians were offered, among other things, to report a transfer via Romano’s account as perfect in order to achieve the appropriate perception. Considering the equivalent of 1000 euros, it’s actually a bargain.
Valerenga’s marketing manager at the time, Mehran Amundsen-Ansari, told “Idrettspolitikk.no”: “In my seven years in top-level football, I have received many special requests, but never anything like this. This is supposed to be one of the most famous ‘journalists’ in the world? This is complete nonsense and I remember unfollowing him on social media after the incident.”
FC Copenhagen is more moderate and only confirmed to “Tipsbladet” that they had rejected the offer.
Amundsen-Ansari: “From a commercial perspective, it would certainly have generated more followers and also given the sponsors greater visibility. But ethically it would have been wrong.”
Ethics in football – they still seem to exist…
