UNESPA has carried out an interesting analysis of the modifications included in the Draft Sports Law that could affect the insurance field.
In this sense, it stands out: the common right of athletes to receive protection from the National Health System; and the specific rights of athletes who are part of a sports federation, which provide for the possibility of additional medical coverage through private insurance that covers the risks of sports activity for your health, subscribed by the corresponding sports federation, which provides additional benefits or services to those provided and the possibility of providing coverage, through the corresponding insurance, for accidents that may occur in the development and practice of sports activity, including travel and travel organized within the sports federation, according to what is established by regulation.

In addition, it will be the responsibility of the organizers of official competitions to ensure the prevention of risks arising from the competition for both athletes and spectators and third parties through the subscription of the corresponding accident, health care and civil liability insurance (Article 87).
