Today, nesting was officially included in UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Today, during the 4th regular session of UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, the official inclusion of fire-making in UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity was announced.
The goal is the maximum preservation and transmission of this thousand-year-old tradition to the next generations, reports the press center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The inclusion of the nestinar as the second Bulgarian masterpiece after the “Bistryka Babi” (2005) in the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage is another great success of Bulgaria in UNESCO, KROSS agency reported.
The ancient Bulgarian ritual practice of performing a ritual dance on embers on the day of St. St. Constantine and Elena, preserved to this day in the village of Bulgari in the region of Strandzha mountain, was presented in Abu Dhabi with a special project “Nestinarstvo – messages from the past”.
