UNESCO Deputy Director-General Discusses Education and Partnerships with Ivorian Minister

Accompanied by a large delegation, the Mexican Gabriela Ramos, Deputy Director-General of UNESCO in charge of human and social sciences, met this Wednesday, September 16, 2023, the Ivorian Minister of National Education and Literacy, Professor Mariatou Koné .

The discussions focused on several essential points including artificial intelligence, digital technology, gender, sport, cohesion and several other themes.

After the exchange of civility, the UN diplomat sent her institution’s congratulations to Minister Mariatou Koné for her leadership, the reforms undertaken with a view to a school of merit and quality in transparency and equity as well as her re-election at the head of the municipality of boundiali with a rate of 93.48%.

Continuing, she praised the good practices of Ivory Coast in the positioning of sport as a lever for learning, the commitment of the Ivorian Government in favor of youth which results in the institution of the year 2023 as the year of the youth.

This political will and the organization of the 2023 edition of the African Cup of Nations (CAN) constitute an opportunity for the implementation of the UNESCO program.

During her speech, the Minister returned to several points arising from the recommendations of the General States of National Education and Literacy (EGENA), notably the professionalization of sport at school, partnerships with ministries and technical structures in several areas, health education, sport, youth, family, woman, child, etc.

For Mariatou Koné, in addition to traditional education, it is a new partnership with UNESCO which opens with the visit of the Deputy Director General.
