PARIS, June 29 (Reuters) – Unemployment claims fell in the United States during the week to June 24, to 239,000 against 265,000 (revised) the previous week, the Labor Department announced on Thursday.
Economists expected an average of 265,000 jobless claims.
Registrations for the week to June 17 have been revised up from an initial estimate of 264,000.
The four-week moving average stands at 257,500 against 256,000 (revised) the previous week.
The number of people regularly receiving benefits rose to 1.742 million during the week to June 17 (last week for which these figures are available) against 1.761 million the previous week.
