Women between 40 and 69 years old should go for the study once a year to rule out abnormalities in the breasts
Morelia, Michoacán, July 17, 2022.- As part of the permanent campaign of the Ministry of Health of Michoacán (SSM) to provide early detection and free care for breast cancer, the Unit of Medical Specialties dedicated to the detection of Breast Cancer (Uneme Dedicam) has carried out in the year more than 5 thousand 136 mammograms.
The studies were applied to women over 40 years of age who, by medical prescription or on their own initiative, attended to detect or rule out changes or abnormalities in the breast tissues, which over time can become problems such as nodules, benign cysts, fibrosis or breast cancer
The mammography is performed in a period of no more than 15 minutes and is applied by a radiology technician, who also performs a clinical examination of the breasts to identify risk factors.
Once the patient obtains the results of the study, she must go to a doctor’s office located in the same Uneme Dedicam to receive the guidance of a specialist on the treatment to follow or, to perform other complementary tests for a greater diagnosis. So far in 2022 there have been 598 services provided.
To make an appointment, those interested can go to the Uneme Dedicam facilities, located at Calle Guillermo Roquet # 250, in the Poblado Ocolusen neighborhood, next to the Morelia Women’s Hospital, or call 4433246133 or 4433154615. It is essential to present a copy of the official identification with a photograph, a new compact disc, have the armpits shaved, without cream, powder, perfume or deodorant, and the results are delivered within a period of seven days.
