Undying Glory Awaits in Trials: Fight for Your Place on the Leaderboards in Diablo IV’s Gauntlet Challenge
Are you ready to prove your might and earn a place among the legends? Diablo IV is introducing an exciting new challenge called the Gauntlet, where players can test their skills and compete for a spot on the Leaderboards. This adrenaline-fueled dungeon will push you to your limits as you fight hordes of monsters and strive to earn the highest score. The Gauntlet will be available to all classes in the Seasonal Realm, whether you’re playing normal or Hardcore.
To access the Gauntlet, you must first reach World Tier IV and travel to the southwestern port in Gea Kul. At the end of the longest dock, you’ll find the formidable Horn of Trials. Activate it, and you’ll be transported to the Gauntlet. But be warned, the monster levels in this dungeon are beyond level 100, so only characters that have reached Level 100 will have a chance at triumphing in this carnage.
The Gauntlet is a fixed layout, non-linear dungeon that changes weekly. Each week, you’ll face a new challenge with the same layout, allowing you to devise your most efficient mode of slaughter. Your score in the Gauntlet is based on how many Proofs of Might you can earn from killing monsters and opening chests within an 8-minute time limit. The more Proofs you earn, the higher your score will be.
But achieving greatness in the Gauntlet won’t be easy. You’ll need to prove your ferocity, efficiency, and strategy to succeed. Pillars and Shrines within the dungeon can help you increase your score or provide additional benefits. Score-based Pillars will increase your Proofs of Might, while power-based Shrines can spawn after killing a boss and grant various effects. It’s up to you to find the best route and adjust your build to master each week’s layout.
While death is not the end in the Gauntlet, it does come at a cost. Each time you die, you’ll lose a third of your score. However, you can recover all your lost Proofs of Might at the place of your last death upon returning to the dungeon. So be careful and fight to the bitter end to minimize your losses.
As your score increases, so does your rank within Trials. Your final score can earn you Seals, which are marks of your prowess in the Gauntlet for that week. There are four ranks of Seals to earn: Seal of the Blooded, Seal of the Steadfast, Seal of the Iron-Willed, and Seal of the Worthy. The Seal of the Blooded is the first one you’ll strive to earn, while the Seal of the Worthy is reserved for those who have dedicated themselves to absolute bloodlust in the Gauntlet. The score needed to earn each Seal will vary week by week and scale with party size.
But it’s not just glory and recognition that await you in the Gauntlet. Loot will be rewarded upon completion, regardless of whether you’ve earned a Seal or not. After each run, you’ll obtain a minor cache. And upon the weekly reset of the Gauntlet, depending on your best score, you’ll earn Caches of Trials. The higher your score, the better the Cache you’ll receive. Earning a Cache of Trials guarantees one Ancestral Legendary item, with higher-ranked Caches offering even more powerful rewards.
If you’re aiming for the top, the Leaderboards are where you’ll find yourself. The Leaderboards are separated by Ladders for Class, Party size, Normal, and Hardcore. You can also filter them by Friends and Clan to see how you measure up against your closest allies. There are 16 possible weekly Ladders in total, with Class-specific Ladders designated for solo players. Your best score across all classes, characters, and platforms will determine your spot on the Leaderboards. And if you manage to secure a place in the Top 100 of any Ladder, you’ll earn a Conqueror’s Crest Mount Trophy. But if you can reach the Top 10, your name and character will be immortalized in the permanent Hall of the Ancients.
The Gauntlet will go live on March 5, so prepare yourself for the ultimate challenge. With class balance changes and Seneschal Companion updates coming in the midseason patch, Blizzard is actively monitoring feedback to ensure a balanced and thrilling experience. More details about the Gauntlet contest will be revealed soon. So gather your weapons, sharpen your skills, and get ready to fight for undying glory in Diablo IV’s Gauntlet Challenge.
