Undistorted impressions of playing Resident Evil 4 remake

I found myself in a dark wooded landscape, I was scared, I didn’t understand the local people and I could feel the gravity of the impending danger in the air. Thanks to the company Cenega Czech I got to Warsaw, where I visited their mother studio. Of course, this is not related to the opening sentence, because the trip and the reception were definitely great. I got the chance to try the long-awaited remake for half an hour Resident Evil 4.

EXPEDITION TO THE WORLD OF RESIDENT EVIL 4

I’m pretty new to the whole series myself, I’ve watched a lot of walkthrough videos Resident Evil Village with a strong emphasis on witches and the character of Madam Maxim, i.e. Lady Dimitrescu. Even then, I was quite disappointed that I hadn’t tried any of the previous parts properly, because the combination of horror with certain elements of fantasy and science fiction is actually very tempting, and the remakes released so far are often taken as a certain standard of how modern remakes should actually be to look like. I was really interested in trying the game.

The protagonist of Resident Evil 4 is a special agent of the United States government Leon S. Kennedywho was sent on a rescue mission to find the president’s daughter Ashley Graham, who was kidnapped by a mysterious cult somewhere in the Spanish countryside. The original game was in some ways revolutionary for the series. The developers stopped relying on the classic recipe of the scary genre, i.e. eternal darkness and a lot of jumpscars. Resident Evil 4 isn’t afraid to create a creepy atmosphere even during the day, and the idea of a “pious” cult definitely helps with that. The gameplay itself was also a bit more action-packed, offering more interactions with the environment and, among other things, the mechanic of depending on which part of the body of the zombified enemies you hit.

I got into the shoes of Leon at the very beginning of the game, when he arrives in the environment and tries to understand what is actually happening around him. You will understand that something is terribly wrong right away, at the latest when you watch from afar the unexpected return of tradition Spanish Inquisition, i.e. burning alive. The story as such is of course exaggerated and far from believable, I would rather compare it to a B-movie. But in combination with action passages and surprising moments, it works really well.

WHAT ABOUT THE GAMEPLAY, DOES IT WORK?

I had a slight “sour” only after I arrived directly in the strange village with Leon. I wasn’t very clear about what I was supposed to do. I wanted to shoot my way through the location, the game itself told me to try to hold on, which is easy to say, but with nine rounds it’s hard to fill without asking all the villagers to line up. Regardless of the fact that it is directly aimed the heat between the eyes is not enough to kill the Spanish Inquisitor. So I wanted to bet more on silent procedure, but then again it was almost impossible to get anywhere. I myself was actually struggling with the prescribed script of the game, which I was simply not familiar enough with. It wasn’t until about the fifth attempt that I bet on the right card and it dawned on me that I really just had it keep running around the village wherever you can and feel free to jump directly between them. It was actually fun, I just feel like it could have been handled better.

The key in the process was that I had to get to a specific barrack, in which Leon was able to barricade himself and, thanks to kicking the ladder, last until the moment before he heard church bell. At that moment, everyone left everything and the only question left in my head was what would happen next. Unfortunately, the demo itself ended there, and I’ll have to fight with not going to spoil it somewhere on YouTube from the original work.

LOOKS GREAT

I enjoyed the demo and I have to rate the visual side very positively. The village seemed downright photorealistic to me in many ways, and during the few repetitions I was downright happy to look at how elaborate the home equipment of deranged rednecks is. So my overall expectations are definitely set high and I can’t wait for more pieces of information. We are also preparing a more detailed video for you in the near future, so you definitely have something to look forward to. The game is coming out March 24, 2023 pro PC, PlayStation 4/5 a Xbox Series X/S.
