This is an infectious lung disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. This disease can be transmitted through droplets (water particles in the air) released by active TB sufferers when coughing.

According to data from the World Health Organization (WHO), one third of the world’s population is infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis, and one person is infected with tuberculosis every second.

In fact, the Indonesian Minister of Health said that India is currently the country with the second highest incidence of tuberculosis in the world after India.

That is why tuberculosis cases are still a terrible scourge in Indonesia and efforts to eradicate tuberculosis continue to be encouraged.

The initial symptom of TB is coughing. Apart from that, there are several characteristics of tuberculosis that you should be aware of.

1. Increased body temperature
The first sign of tuberculosis is an increase in body temperature (fever), especially at night.

Tuberculosis sufferers may feel fine in the morning and evening, but at night they become weak and feverish.

This increase in body temperature usually lasts more than 3 weeks, even if you are taking antipyretic drugs.

2. Sweating at night
Your body temperature rises at night, causing fever and sweating. The amount of sweat you produce is much greater than the amount you sweat in a day.

Night sweats may be accompanied by shaking, although this does not occur in all tuberculosis patients.
